Lesedi Cultural Village was established in 1993. The vision - to provide an authentic showcase of the traditional cultures of some of the well known African tribes, who have their home in South Africa. Members of these historic communities live at Lesedi and continue to breathe life into their fascinating cultures. Each of these families lives at Lesedi Cultural village permanently, looking after cows, chickens and tourists, and tours through their homes offer interesting cross-cultural comparisons of the customs and social organisation of the different cultures. Lesedi African Lodge and Cultural village awaits those willing to participate in an adventure that reveals the mystical cultures and traditions of the people of Africa, steeped in tribal folklore and ancestral traditions. Our culture is the light of our nation – whoever walks here amongst our cultures at Lesedi Cultural village can also see the light. The discovery begins at the Ndebele village where the introduction to the cultural experience precedes a multi-media presentation on the history and origins of today’s rainbow nation. This is followed by a guided tour of the other four ethnic homesteads – Zulu, Basotho, Xhosa and Pedi. As the sun sets over the African bush, guests are escorted to the Boma for traditional singing and dancing (a very participative affair!!) depicting stories that date back to the days of their ancestors. After a traditional dance and sing show from the different cultures, a traditional African style feast will be enjoyed in the Lesedi Cultural "Nyama Choma" restaurant from dishes around the African continent.
