Pilanesberg National Park is set on 50 000 hectares of pristine unspoiled natural beauty, situated in the North West Province. The area is world famous geologically and its structure, termed the 'Pilanesberg National Park Alkaline Ring Complex' was formed by volcanic eruptions some 1 200 million years ago. Operation Genesis: The creation of the Reserve is considered one of the most ambitious programs of its kind to be undertaken anywhere in the world, he re-introduction of many long-vanished species, the park now has in excess of 7 000 animals including 24 of the larger species. Truly fulfilling wildlife excursions could have you spotting any of the Big Five. The Pilanesberg Game Reserve is located in North West Province in South Africa, west of Pretoria. The park borders with the entertainment complex Sun City. The park was originally owned by three local tribes, and is now administered by the North West Parks and Tourism Board. Pilanesberg National Park is the park in South Africa with the greatest variety of animals /square km. It is the closest game reserve to Gauteng with the Big 5 and it is malaria free. Not only has it got an abundance of animals and bird life, the views are breathtaking... Everyone that has been to all the other top Parks in Africa agrees that this is the most species you can see in the shortest time. It is by far my favorite park in Africa & you will love it as well, and you'll want to come back!
